The Middle East is a region where cars and truck is king and fuel is cheap, often little reward to discover more environmentally-friendly ways of moving.

But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have pushed up the cost of oil, the issue of discovering alternative sources of fuel has entered into sharp focus.

In an area that has one of the greatest carbon footprints in the world, one organization is benefiting from the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It’s established the Middle East’s first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It’s showing rewarding too, currently their client-list consists of McDonald’s.
